She is a dedicated worker of BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY,an avid social worker for over 20 years working with ALL INDIA WOMENS CONFRENCE (AIWC).
She was elected for the first time in 2003 for the prestigious and honorable post of CHAIRPERSON NAGAR PALIKA NAINITAL, and had a spotless and sublime tenure till 2008.
In 2009 she was working as a NAGAR ADHYAKSHA of the AIWC.
In 2012, she was elected as the M.L.A from Nainital in the Vidhan Sabha Elections. By winning the Nainital seat she has set a unique record of being the first women candidates contested on this seat.
